The six-part series will take place at 12:00 pm CDT starting on January 11, 2022. The subsequent sessions will follow every week. The sessions will be one hour, with Judy Alter talking for the first 30-40 minutes, with the remainder for hands-on and questions. Judy has been a Senior Business Analyst for seventeen years and can discuss concepts and have real-life stories to discuss experiences and outcomes.

Program Objectives

– Increased knowledge of the techniques to improve elicitation skills and stakeholder management
– Develop leadership goals to adapt the skills to advance leadership skills
– Participate in live exercises to show how they would teach other BAs or team members what they have learned
About the Sessions
1. Advanced Communication
In the first session, we discuss how information moves through the brain based on the input of the five senses. Explanation of the channels of communications and how people prefer specific channels. Hands on practice of skills learned during last half of session.
2. Elicitation Techniques On the Next Level
In the second session, Advanced Communications session has helped you to recognize what people need and how they want it. There are fifty techniques in the BABOK®. Other techniques are valid but are not in BABOK®. The focus will be on Mind Mapping, Observation, SWOT Analysis, and Collaborative Games. Hands on practice of skills learned during last half of session.
3. Top Five Elicitation Techniques
The third session addresses the top five techniques. Why are they so popular? How are they used? Deep dive with an advanced set of eyes on how to use these techniques in a better way. The top five techniques are: Prototyping, Requirements Workshop, Interviews, Brainstorming, and Observation. Hands on practice of skills learned during last half of session.
4. Managing Stakeholder Collaboration
The fourth session explains how to use the advanced communication and elicitation skills to bring stakeholder collaboration to a more efficient and complete level. Focus will be on advanced methods of how to manage stakeholder relationships which is the most important part of the collaboration process. Hands on practice of skills learned during last half of session.
5. Leadership Development Goals – Advanced as a Leader
The fifth session explains how an established BA leader can learn new skills to grow as a leader. The BAs will be able to create a Development Plan focused on the Leadership Development Goals. These skills will allow them to be a sought-after trainer, mentor, and coach for new and less experienced BAs. The Leadership Development Goals are:
- Personal responsibility
- Practice self-discipline
- Active listening skills
- Expand and diversify knowledge
- Focus on time management
- Cultivate a culture of mentorship
- Continual communication improvement
- Master big-picture thinking
Hands on practice of skills learned during last half of session.
6. Bringing all the Pieces Together
The sixth and final session will start with Judy going through a five-to-ten-minute summary of the highlights for all the sessions. The attendees will select content from one of the sessions to demonstrate how they would teach it to their peers. Depending on number of attendees they may present content from more than one session.

What tools or technology do I need to participate in the program?
You don’t need to have access to Zoom before making your purchase. After you reserve your spot in the program we will send you instructions for accessing Zoom.
What if I'm unable to attend one of the sessions?
That being said, we know business travel and other obligations might get in the way sometimes. If you aren’t able to attend a session we can record it and make it available to you offline after the fact.
